Self-Sustaining Projects
The various works in Tanzania take American financial support to function, but we are optimistic that this outside support will not always be necessary. Along with our Tanzanian friends, we have created projects that make financial independence for this work a reachable goal. We are thrilled that plans are in place to bring in enough money from these projects to fully support the work.
Farming
Tanzania has fertile ground, and we have bought a large plot of land and a tractor that we are using to raise corn. We harvested our first crop in 2020, and the results proved that this is a realistic way to bring in money in Tanzania that can then be funneled into supporting the schools and local works.
Poultry and dairy
On the land where the schools are located, we are also raising chickens and cows to provide eggs, milk, and meat. This will accomplish two important things: (1) It will provide food for the students at the schools, which will significantly lower our food costs; (2) The excess food can be sold, and these sales will provide additional money to offset other expenses.
